(Set) Notification
You can specify the type of message notification (how you are notified when new mail
arrives for you) and what type of messages you want to be notified of by setting the NOTIFY
option. By selecting the “
Notification
” selection under the Options menu, you can both
view and change the setting of your mail notification. Once selected, you will be prompted with
the window pictured above, with all the available options listed and your current selection high-
lighted. You can also see the numeric code for the setting next to the “Notification” label on the
Options menu. Values are numbers between 0 and 4, and the meanings of each code are defined
below.
0 = No notification messages are sent
1 = Notify users via a :TELL message only for URGENT incoming mail (no
message for normal priority mail)
2 = Notify users via :TELL messages if they are not in “QUIET” mode, other-
wise send a special non-destructive message overlay onto the function-key
labels of their HP terminal
3 = Notify users via :TELL messages if not “QUIET”, send interruptive mes-
