Troubleshooting

CAUSE & REMEDYPROBLEM
Fax Transmission
The other party complains that
letters on their received
document are distorted.
The other party complains that
dirty patterns or black lines
appear on their received
documents.
I cannot make an international
fax call.
¡If your line has special telephone services such as call waiting, the
service may have been activated during fax transmission. Connect the
unit to a line that does not have such services.
¡An extension telephone on the same line is off the hook. Hang up and
try again.
¡The glass or rollers are dirty. Clean them (see page 63).
¡Use the overseas transmission mode (see page 40).
¡Add two pauses at the end of the phone number (see page 37).
I cannot receive documents
automatically.
The recording image is faint.
The received document is
blank.
¡The receive mode is set to the TEL mode. Set to the EXT. TAM,
TEL/FAX or FAX mode.
¡The time to answer the call may be too long. Decrease the number of
rings (see pages 25 and 27).
¡The junk mail prohibitor is set to on (see page 42).
¡The sender transmitted a faint document. Request them to transmit a
clearer copy of the document.
¡The recording paper roll is installed incorrectly. Make sure that the shiny
side of the paper is facing down and re-install the paper (see page 10).
CAUSE & REMEDYPROBLEM
Fax Reception
¡The handset is too far from the main unit or is engaged in an outside
call.
¡Charge the battery fully or replace with a fully charged optional spare
battery (p. 13, 62).
¡Clean the charge contacts and charge again.
¡It is time to replace the battery. Please purchase a new battery (p. 61).
¡This is normal.
(LOCATOR/INTERCOM) does
not function.
The TALK/BATT LOW indicator
flashes slowly or the unit
beeps intermittently.
You charged the battery fully,
but the TALK/BATT LOW
indicator flashes slowly.
The CHARGE indicator and/or
the SPARE CHARGE indicator
light never goes out while
charging.
