4. Telephone
36
“OUT OF AREA”: The caller dialled from an
area which does not provide Caller ID
service.
“PRIVATE CALLER”: The caller requested
not to send caller information.
Note for Australian users:
L Although Telstra and Optus do not currently
send caller name information, the caller’s
name will be displayed as stored in the
directory, when a call from that caller is
received.
L The area code will need to be stored with the
8-digit telephone number.
Note for New Zealand users:
L Although Telecom New Zealand and
TelstraClear do not currently send caller
name information, the caller’s name will be
displayed as stored in the directory, when a
call from that caller is received.
L Your telephone company may charge you for
a local call if the number dialled has the area
code prefix included. If this is unacceptable,
dial only the 7-digit local number. Do not dial
the {0} prefix or the area code.
To confirm caller information by printing
the Caller ID list
– To print manually, see page 105.
– To print automatically after every 30 new
calls, activate feature #26 (page 68).
Category features for Caller ID subscribers
Categories can help you identify who is calling
by using different ring tones for different
categories of callers.
When adding an item to the handset phonebook
you can assign it to the desired category (page
32). When a call is received from a caller
assigned to a category, the category’s ring tone
you select is used.
Changing category ring tones
You can select a ring tone for each category. If
you select “Ext. Ringtone”, the unit will use
the external ring tone you set on page 75 when
calls from this category are received. The default
setting is “Ext. Ringtone”.
1. Press {k}, then press {j/OK}.
2. Select “Category”, then press {>}.
3. Select a category, then press {>}.
4. Select the current setting of the category ring
tone, then press {>}.
5. Select the desired ring tone, then press {>}.
6. Press {ih}.
4.5.2 Call waiting and Caller ID
compatible (Handset only) (KX-
FC235AL only)
If you subscribe to Caller ID service, your
handset displays the second caller’s information
while talking. After you hear a call-waiting tone,
the caller’s phone number will be displayed.
You can answer the second call, keeping the first
call on hold. Follow Telstra or your service
provider instructions using {R}.
L If the phone number is stored in the
phonebook with its name, the caller’s name
will also be displayed.
L Please contact Telstra or your service
provider for details and availability in your
area.
Using Caller ID type II
When you receive a second call during a
conversation, you will hear a signal tone
following the call waiting tone and the
conversation will be interrupted or muted for
a short period of time. This is not the fault of the
product as these events are normal.
Note:
L The tones are generated by the service
provider.
