Before requesting help
The unit does not print.
The unit automatically turns off the
printer mode even though the
connected computer is turned on.
¡The power cord or interface cable is not connected. Check the
connection.
¡The printer mode is turned off. Press (PRINTER) to turn the
printer mode on.
¡The unit is not on-line (the ON LINE light is off). Press
(ON\LINE).
¡The interface cable is not connected or the incorrect interface
cable is used. Confirm the connection and the interface cable
(see page 6).
¡Recording paper is not loaded properly. Reload.
¡The computer is not set up correctly. Confirm the computer.
¡The print cartridge is not installed properly or runs out of ink.
Install properly or replace.
¡This may be caused by the parallel cable due to different
connecting specifications. In this case, set the printer time-out
function to off (see page 56 in the operating instructions for a
fax) or try a bi-directional parallel cable.
Paper does not load into the unit.
Multiple sheets feed into the unit.
Paper is loaded skewed. (Printing is
skewed.)
Envelopes are not loaded.
Paper is not ejected after printing.
Paper is ejected but any images are
not printed.
¡The paper selection lever is not set to the correct position. Set
to the correct position.
¡When manually feeding paper, the unit is not on-line or the
paper is not inserted correctly. Press (ON\LINE) or reload the
paper.
¡The paper is sticking together. Fan the paper, then reload.
¡The paper selection lever is not set to the back position. Set
lever.
¡Too much paper is loaded in the sheet feeder. Remove some
sheets of paper.
¡Different paper types are loaded in the sheet feeder. Load only
one paper type.
¡The paper is not loaded properly. Reload.
¡The paper selection lever is not set to the front. Set lever.
¡The envelopes are not loaded properly. Reload.
¡In your printer driver or your software application or on the unit’s
control panel, envelope mode is not set up. Set up envelope
mode.
¡To eject the paper, press (ON\LINE) to set the unit off-line, then
press and hold (FF) for one second.
¡The unit fed paper slightly when the paper was loaded.
Do not load paper deeply into the unit.
