Congure input methods screen
This screen lists settings for the input methods you have installed. Initially, it lists settings only for the Android keyboard.
Android keyboard
: For tablets with physical keyboards, uncheck to disable the onscreen keyboard. See “Android
Keyboard settings screen” on page 105.
Active input methods
: Touch to open a screen where you can check the languages you want available for typing
and speaking when using the onscreen keyboard and voice input. If you check specic languages, the Input Method
button appears in the System bar when the onscreen keyboard is open. See “Using the onscreen keyboard
on page 39.

Android Keyboard settings screen
The Android Keyboard settings apply to the onscreen keyboard that is included with your tablet. The correction and
capitalization features aect only the English version of the keyboard.
Auto-capitalisation
: Check to have the onscreen keyboard automatically capitalize the rst letter of the rst word
after a period, the rst word in a text eld, and each word in name elds.
Vibrate on key-press
: Set the device to vibrate when you touch a key.
Sound on key-press
: Check to play a brief sound each time you touch a key on the onscreen keyboard.
Auto-correction
: Check to automatically enter a suggested word, highlighted in the strip above the keyboard, when
you enter a space or punctuation. See “Using the onscreen keyboard” on page 39.
Show correction suggestions
: Check to show suggested words in a strip above the onscreen keyboard as you type.
