Command line syntax
Bold
type is used to indicate characters you must type exactly as shown. For
example:
COPY B:\ACT-TOOL\ACT.EXE C:\UTILITIES
Note
Extra spaces are added between command elements for clarity;
you need only type a single space.
Italic
type indicates variable elements. For example:
arp -a
printer-name
printer-Ethernet-address
Optional command parameters are indicated within [square brackets]. For
example:

To extract the Þles from the diskette, enter this command:
tar xvf /dev/
devicename
[
dir
]
[
Þle
]
where specifying
dir
extracts an entire directory, specifying
Þle
extracts a single Þle, and no arguments extracts the contents of the
entire disk.
