AllhotkeyoperationsbeginbyinvokingHotkeyMode.InorderforHotkeyModetowork,itmustbeactivatedintheKVM’sOSD;itisactivatedby
default.(Seepage16fordetailsonOSDhotkeyactivation.)TherearetwosequencesthatcanbeusedtoinvokeHotkeyMode,bothofwhichareexplained
below.YoucantogglebetweenthesetwosequencesusingtheOSD.(Seepage15fordetailsonswitchingtheHotkeyModeinvocationsequence.)The
[Num Lock] and [-]Minuskeysarethedefaultinvocationkeys.
Num Lock and Minus (-) keys
1. Pressandholddownthe[Num Lock] key.
2. Whilethe[Num Lock]keyishelddown,pressandreleasethe [-]Minuskey.
3.After releasing the [-]Minuskey,releasethe[Num Lock] key.
Control and F12 keys
1.Pressandholddownthe[Ctrl] key.
2.Whilethe[Ctrl]keyishelddown,pressandreleasethe[F12] key.
3.Afterreleasingthe [F12]key,releasethe[Ctrl] key.
When Hotkey Mode has been invoked:
• Themonitorgoesblankandthehotkeycommandlineisdisplayed.Thisiswhereyouwillenterinthehotkeycommandsdescribedinthischapter.
• The[Caps Lock] and [Scroll Lock]iconswillblinkinsuccession.
• OrdinarykeystrokeswillbesuspendeduntilHotkeyModeisexited.HotkeyModeisexitedbyperformingahotkeycommandorbypressingthe
[Esc] or [Spacebar] keys.
EachCPUportinaninstallationisassignedauniquePortID.ThePortIDismadeupoftwoparts:aStation Number,andaPort Number:
• The Station Number isatwo-digitnumberthatidentifiestheswitch’spositioninthedaisy-chainsequence.Thiscorrespondstothenumber
displayedonthefrontpanelStationIDLED.
• The Port Number isatwo-digitnumberwhichidentifiestheportnumberthatthecomputerisconnectedto.
• TheStationNumberprecedesthePortNumber.
• StationandPortNumbersarealways2digits,so1-9becomes01-09.Eg.,acomputerattachedtoPort 7 of Station 15 hasaPortIDof15-07.
Youcandirectlyaccessaportbydoingthefollowing:
1) InvokeHotkeyMode.
2) EnterthePortID.
ThePortIDnumbersappearonthecommandlineastheyareentered.Tocorrectamistake,use[Backspace]toerasethewrongnumber.
3) Press[Enter].
Once[Enter]hasbeenpressed,theKVMswitchestothedesignatedcomputerandyouautomaticallyexittheHotkeyMode.
