External Router
Static Route Entry
Parameter Definition
Static Route
Entry in
External
Routers
Configure a Static Route entry in any of the external routers
which may have been specified as a Default Router or as a
Gateway. This is required because the static IP routing feature
does not send periodic route updates using protocols like
Routing Information Protocol (RIP) or Open Shortest Path
First (OSPF) so that other external routers can automatically
update their routing tables. This implementation prevents
other parties from discovering routes through eavesdropping.
The format of this entry will vary among different router
vendors, but it will typically be in the form of Destination,
Mask, and Next Hop Gateway. Destination is the remote IP
subnet or host address. Gateway is the IP address of
the Megabit Modem CRA-C on the same subnet as the
external router.
