Changing Community Strings
To change the IntraSwitch’s community strings:

Open the SNMP Parameter Menu by typing n
in the Configuration Menu.

Type r to change the read community string
or w to change the write community string.

Type a new community string at the prompt.
To cancel a selected option, press ctrl-c at
the command prompt.

Press return.
Setting Description
SNMP Read
Community
The IntraSwitch’s SNMP read community
string.
The read community string is a single word
that defines access rights for reading SNMP
data objects.
The default setting is public.
SNMP Write
Community
The IntraSwitch’s SNMP write community
string.
The write community string is a single word
that defines access rights for writing SNMP
data objects.
The default setting is private.
Trap Authentication The status of the SNMP agent to generate
traps.
The default setting is disabled.
SNMP Trap Receivers The IP addresses of the network management
stations that can receive traps. Normally,
these addresses are the same as your network
management software systems’ IP
address(es).
Important: A maximum of four traps receivers
is allowed.
