Sample Hosts File
This appendix contains a sample Hosts file for IP address and name configuration.
See the “Setting the TCP/IP Network Configuration” section on page 4-2 for
details about the Hosts file.
The Hosts file is in the following location:
C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC\HOSTS
Example B-1 shows an example of a Hosts file.
Example B-1 Sample Hosts File
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column, followed by the corresponding host
name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) can be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a “#” symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 172.16.94.97 rhino.xyzcorp.com # source server
