Upgrading the PC
Upgrading or Replacing
Memory
Your PC comes with random access memory
(RAM), which temporarily stores data and
instructions on your PC. You can install memory
expansion modules in the memory expansion slots
in the PC. The procedures for upgrading or
replacing these modules are the same for the S and
8000 series.
Removing a Memory Module
1. Complete the procedure described in
“Preparing the PC” on page 8–2, but do not
remove the front bezel.
2. Locate the memory module inside your PC.
See the following illustration for the location of
the memory modules 1, memory slots 2, and
release latches 3 on the system board.
CAUTION: When handling a memory
module, be careful not to touch any of the
contacts. Doing so may damage the
module.
