Chapter 5. Adapters, Overview and Configuration
This chapter introduces the major communication and graphics adapters that
are used with the RS/6000 43P 7043 Model 150 and Model 260. Following
the introduction, a discussion of PCI adapter configuration is given.
For a complete summary of the adapters supported on the Model 150 and the
Model 260, refer to Table 37 on page 152.
5.1 Communication Adapters
In this section, an introduction to various communication adapters is provided

5.1.1 Token-Ring Adapter
In this section, information on the available token-ring adapter is given.
5.1.1.1 PCI IBM Token-Ring Adapter (# 2920)
The IBM PCI Token-Ring Adapter is a high performance 32-bit bus master
card designed to operate on selected RS/6000 models that incorporate the
PCI bus interface. The following is a list of attributes for this card:
Enhanced system interface for higher throughput and lower system
utilization, coupled with RJ-45 and DB9 connectors
Handles LAN environment requirements of today’s servers and high-end
workstations running I/O intensive applications on the network
Operates at either 16 Mbps or 4 Mbps over unshielded twisted pair (UTP)
or shielded twisted pair (STP)
Automatic ring-speed detection
External status LEDs providing visual indication of adapter and ring status
