position, you may just need to boot into maintenance mode after the install
and install the MP kernel updates.
8.3.4.2 On the System You Want to Clone
1. Create a mksysb tape on the system you want to clone.
Note: If your system was created from D5 install media, it can only be
restored to another system that supports D5 code. To prevent problems
with code levels, make sure that your system is installed from G5 media
prior to creating the mksysb. Then use a G5 install CD-ROM for the steps
later.
2. Create a customized diskette.
# mkdir /tmp/clone
# cd /tmp/clone
# echo data > signature
# cp /usr/lpp/bosinst/bosinst.template bosinst.data
# vi bosinst.data
Make sure that the control_flow stanza has this entry set. This is the most
important part of the bosinst.data for this procedure:
CUSTOMIZATION_FILE = cloner
This will tell bos install to run the cloner script after it has restored the
mksysb image.
Also, the
target_disk_data stanza should be zeroed out as shown, so that
the bos install program will install on the best fit disks.
Here is a sample bosinst.data file:
control_flow:
CONSOLE =
INSTALL_METHOD = overwrite
PROMPT = yes
EXISTING_SYSTEM_OVERWRITE = yes
INSTALL_X_IF_ADAPTER = yes
RUN_STARTUP = yes
RM_INST_ROOTS = no
ERROR_EXIT =
CUSTOMIZATION_FILE = cloner
TCB = no
