WLAN Settings
Before the XPress DR+W can communicate on an 802.11b/g wireless network, the
WLAN settings must match the wireless network. By default, the XPress DR+W is set to
Ad Hoc network mode, and its wireless Network Name (SSID) is LTRX_IBSS.
You can configure WEP, WPA, or WPA2/802.11i settings:
Note: WPA and WPA2/802.11i security are only available in infrastructure
mode.
Installing the XPress DR+W for Initial Configuration
Two settings are required for the XPress DR+W to communicate on a wireless network:
The Server (0) settings
The WLAN (4) settings
Complete the following steps to connect and initially configure the XPress DR+W
required settings. Initial configuration is done using the Setup Mode’s Change Setup
menu.
1. Connect one end of the supplied serial cable to the unit’s serial port 1. (See 9-Pin
RS-232 to Serial RJ45 Cable (P/N 500-103) on page 22.)
2. Connect the other end of the serial cable to a terminal or a PC’s serial COM port.
3. On the PC, open a terminal emulation application (e.g. HyperTerminal). Configure the
XPress DR+W serial settings as 9600 baud, 8 bits, not parity, 1 stop bit, and no flow
control (9600, 8, N, 1).
4. Enter Setup Mode by simultaneously connecting the power supply and holding down
the x key. Upon connection, the following information displays:
5. Press Enter within 5 seconds to display the Change Setup menu.
Server Configuration (Option 0)
You can configure the unit’s basic network parameters when you select Server
configuration (option 0).
