Glossary
10Base-T An adaptation of the IEEE 802.3 (Ethernet) standard, the 10Base-T standard uses
twisted-pair wiring with a maximum segment length of 100 m (328 ft) and terminates
with an RJ-45 connector. A 10Base-T network is a baseband network capable of
transmitting data at a maximum speed of 10 Mbit/s.
802.3 frame A frame format, specified in the IEEE 802.3 (Ethernet) standard, in which the header
specifies the data packet length.
agent 1. SNMP—the SNMP application that runs on a network device. 2. Fipio—a slave
device on a network.
analog input A module that contains circuits that convert analog DC input signals to digital values
that can be manipulated by the processor. By implication, these analog inputs are
usually direct—i.e., a data table value directly reflects the analog signal value.
analog output A module that contains circuits that transmit an analog DC signal proportional to a
digital value input to the module from the processor. By implication, these analog
outputs are usually direct—i.e., a data table value directly controls the analog signal
value.
application
object
In CAN-based networks, application objects represent device-specific functionality,
such as the state of input or output data.
