Gateway Features
Manyexistingmeters,dataloggers,RTUʹs,PLCʹs,point‐of‐
sale,andotherremotedevicesonlyhavephysicalinterfaces
designedtoaccessthetelephonenetwork.Theydonothave
serialorEthernetports.Theycurrentlyuseanalogcellularor
standardphonelinestoconnectincircuit‐switchedmodefor
data
transfer.
Analogcellularphoneserviceisbeingdiscontinued.The
combinationoftheHostRJ‐11IPGateway,RJ‐11IPGateway
andaSierraWirelessAirLinkRavenwithEthernetport,
enablesremoteconnectivitybetweenhostapplicationsand
theseremotedevicesovercellularpacketdatanetworks.The
RJ‐11IPGatewayprovidesthe
bridgebetweenadevice
requiringanRJ‐11interfaceandtheRaven,withitsEthernet
interface.TheHostRJ‐11IPGatewaycanprovideEthernet‐
basedInternetconnectivitytoaLegacyHostsystemwithonly
RJ‐11ports.
