Connecting the Cables
The machine has the connectors for connection with either network or directly to a computer.
Connecting the Network Cable
To connect the machine to a network, use an network cable (10Base-T or 100Base-TX).

Turn the power switch located on the rear side of the
machine off ({), and remove the power cord from the
outlet.

Connect the network cable to the network interface
connector at the rear side of the machine.

Connect the other end of the network cable to your network device (hub).

Make network settings on the operating panel. See page 3-10.
Connecting the Parallel or USB Cable
To connect the machine directly to your computer, use either a parallel cable or USB cable.
Notes • Use the USB cable that complies with Revision 2.0 of USB standard with a rectangular Type A
plug and a square Type B plug.
• The connecting the USB cable should be shielded and not be longer than 5 meters (16 feet).
