Data Source (Obj ID)
Enter the Object ID of the counter to be monitored.
▲ Important! The Object ID for a counter
is defined in the MIB with which it is asso-
ciated (e.g., MIB II, RMON, etc).
Some counters require an interface num-
ber (the number of the port to be moni-
tored) at the end of the object ID. See
Figure 7-8.
For example, to monitor the RMON Ether-
net Statistics Octets counter (etherStatsOc-
tets), enter the following object ID
number, directly followed by the number
of the port to be monitored:

Sampling Type
Enter the method for sampling the selected Data Source.
Options are:
❏ absolute value — the value of the Data
Source is compared directly with the thresh-
olds at the end of the sampling interval.
❏ delta value — the value of the Data Source
at the last sample is subtracted from the cur-
rent value and the difference is compared
with the thresholds.
Startup Alarm
Enter the type of alarm to be sent. Option are:
❏ risingAlarm — if the first sample is greater
than or equal to the value set for the Rising
Threshold (see “Rising Threshold” on
page 7-12), an alarm is generated.

Object ID
