Locally Administrated Address
Each NPS 550 is preconfigured with a unique Node Address (indentical
to the serial number). You may change the node address to a Locally
Administrated Address by editing the Node Address entry in your config
file.
The Node Address consists of six hexadecimal numbers in the range 00 -
FF. The numbers are separated by spaces.
Example 1: The following config entry shows an example of a preconfigured Node
Address:
A locally administrated address must begin with one of the hexadecimal
numbers x2, x6, xA, or xE (xxxx xx10 in binary format). Examples: 02,
36, 5A and EE are valid leading numbers. No restrictions apply to the five
remaining numbers.
Example 2: The following config entry shows an example of a locally administrated
address:
If you enter an invalid address, the current Node Address will remain
unchanged. It is not possible to set an address other than a valid locally
administrated address or the preconfigured Node Address.
You can restore the preconfigured Node Address by entering the NPS
550 serial number, or an address consisting of all 0’s.
Example 3: The following config entry restores the Node Address to the preconfigured
setting:
Important:
Always consult your network manager before changing the
