Canon BJ-230 Printer User Manual

If your print quality is not crisp and clear, see Chapter7,
Troubleshooting, for possible solutions. If the problem seems to be your
ink cartridge, be sure to clean the print head before determining that you
need to replace the cartridge. If you clean the print head five times and
your print quality does not improve, you need to replace the cartridge.
( The print head cleaning procedure is described in Chapter 2, Setting
Up the Printer, and late in this chapter.)
Installing the Ink Cartridge
To avoid spilling ink, follow these precautions:
Do not touch the print head on the ink cartridge or the sharp
edges around it.
Do not hold the ink cartridge, or place it on a table, with the print
head facing down, except when you are installing it.
Do not attempt to disassemble the cartridge.
Do not vigorously shake the cartridge while handling it.
Remove the ink cartridge from the printer only when necessary.
NOTE: Print head cleaning is not a routine maintenance procedure. Only
clean the print head if your print quality is inadequate.
CAUTION: Canon makes numerous ink cartridges; the BC-02 is
designed specifically for the Bubble Jet Printers BJ-200 and BJ-230 and
is the only one you should use.
