Reinstall the software to its original state when you purchased
the computer by using the Recovery CD. You also have the
option of restoring your computer to the way it was when you
performed the last User Backup. When you restart your
computer with the Recovery CD in the drive, the following
menu is displayed.

Everything added to the drive
since the last User Backup is
lost when you perform a User
Restore.
Tip
User Backup creates
USER.PQI files. These files are
read-only—you cannot edit
their contents.
Option Description
Emergency
Diskette
Creates a recovery diskette that stores the system
information that came with your computer. This diskette
contains information specific to your computer model.
You may be prompted to insert the emergency diskette if
you use the QuickRestore CD to restore the C and D
drives to their original factory settings.
User
Backup
Creates a backup of all the files, applications, and data
currently on the C drive. The backup is stored in
USER.PQI files on the D drive.
Note: If the D drive does not have enough space
to store the User Backup, the computer automatically
resizes the partition then completes the User Backup.
Be aware that the size of the C drive decreases as the
size of the D drive increases.
User
Restore
Uses the information stored in the USER.PQI files on the
D drive to restore all the files, applications, and data on
the C drive as they existed at the time of your last User
Backup. Any files, data, or programs you added after
your last User Backup are deleted.
Factory
Restore
Restores the computer to its original factory condition.
You will need to re-enter your factory registration
information. Any files, data, or programs you added after
receiving your computer are deleted.
Exit Exits the Recovery CD.
