3.3 Unit Level Troubleshooting
You may be able to identify a defective printer unit simply by observing
the printer’s symptoms. The table below lists the symptoms for several
printer problems. After you determine the type of printer problem you
have, see the corresponding flowchart to isolate the cause of the problem
and repair the printer.

The carriage does not move at all.
When you turn on the printer, the carriage
moves away from the home position and then
stops. All the indicator LEDs on the control
panel flash.

feeding
The printer does not feed the paper at all.
When you turn on the printer, the printer ejects
the paper automatically.
After you load paper, the printer ejects the
paper automatically and then indicates it is in
the ready state.
