Reading the displayed volume

This section is a detailed
look at reading the output
volume display on the
matrix switcher’s front
panel. If you do not need
to read the exact value of
the volume setting, skip
this section.
There are 65 steps of volume
attenuation, with 1 dB per step
(button push), except for 0-to-1,
which is 35 dB. At maximum
attenuation, no input LEDs are lit,
98 dB of attenuation is applied,
and the audio output is effectively
muted. At no attenuation, all
input LEDs are lit and the output
volume is equal to the input signal
plus any gain or attenuation that is
applied to that specifi c input using
the input audio level adjustment.

The input LEDs blink or light
sequentially to indicate the
approximate volume of the
selected output. Volume is
defi ned as a percentage of the
input audio signal that is applied
to the output. From 0% of
volume, the fi rst Esc (
>
) button
push applies 5.5% of the input
audio signal and causes the Input
1 LED to blink slowly. From 5.5%
on, each Esc (
>
) push applies 1.5%
more of the input audio signal to
the output:
• Push Esc (
>
) button —
5.5% + 1.5% = 7% volume.
The Input 1 LED continues
blinking slowly.
•
Push Esc (
>
) button twice —
7% + 1.5% + 1.5% = 10%
volume. The Input 1 LED
begins to blink quickly.
• Push Esc (
>
) button
19 times —
10% + (19•1.5%) = 38.5%
volume. The Input 1
through 4 LEDs light
steadily.
