Troubleshooting the printer

Multicolored spots
appear on prints.
Clean the printer and the surrounding
area.
Move the printer away from ventilation
ducts or open doors.
Smudges, smears, and
fingerprints have caused
irregularly shaped and
colored areas to appear
on the print. (See image
1 at the end of this
guide.)
Fingerprints or other
oils have contaminated
the paper or ribbon.
Handle media and ribbon carefully and as
described in Chapter 2 of this guide.
Use only KODAK EKTATHERM XLS
XTRALIFE color ribbon.
Printer initializes, but
does not enter the
READY state.
Disconnect and reconnect the interface
cable.
Restart the printer.
If the problem persists, service is required.
Edges of transparency
material curl on dense
prints.
Put prints in transparency sleeves.
Try using the Printer Driver or Export
Module’s
Mirror
option, which will change
the way that ink is applied to the page.
Paper does not feed.
Look at the paper. Remove sheets with
irregularities.
Reduce the size of the stack of media in
the paper tray.
Make sure that the blue stiffener sheet is
at the bottom of the paper tray.
Printer does not respond
when you press buttons.
You may have
pressed invalid
buttons.
1. Make sure the cover is closed.
2. Reinsert the paper tray.
3. Restart the printer.
4. Make sure the printer is in READY mode.
