Adding an external hard drive
This procedure applies only to 8650 PS Color Printers operating in
PostScript mode.
If you want additional ATM fonts to be permanently accessible to the
printer, you need to add an external hard drive. Once you connect and
format an external hard drive, you can use the software utilities available
for your system to download the ATM fonts and store them on the hard
drive.
IMPORTANT:The size of the hard drive is limited to 2000 MB or less.
Installing the hard drive
First, connect the cable as follows:
1. Turn the printer
Off
.
2. Disconnect all devices that are connected to the printer with a SCSI
cable.
3. Set the SCSI ID for the external hard drive to any ID that is different
from the printer’s initiator ID. Refer to the manual shipped with the
hard drive for instructions.
4. Connect one end of the SCSI cable to one of the printer’s
SCSI ports. Connect the other end of the cable to the hard drive.
