Faxes Cannot Be Received
Symptom Possible Cause Remedy
The received fax is not clear. Paper that does not meet
specifications has been used.
Use paper that meets
specifications.
The paper is damp. Replace the paper.
The toner is empty. Replace the toner bottle with a
new one.
There is a problem with the
telephone connection or with
the callers fax machine.
Check that the machine can
make clean copies. If it can,
have the caller send the fax
again.
The received fax is blank. The toner is empty. Replace the toner bottle with a
new one.
The caller sent the back of the
fax pages.
Contact the caller.
Faxes cannot be received
automatically.
The machine is set to receive
faxes manually.
Set the machine to automatic
reception. (p. 4-22)
The memory is full. Load paper if it is empty, and
then print the faxes stored in the
memory.
Some error occurred. Follow the instructions in any
messages that appear on the
display.
Black streaks appear through the
copy.
There is a problem with the
