Troubleshooting
Copier Problems Solution Chart
The following chart lists some conditions that may occur and the recommended solutions.
Follow the suggested solutions until the problem is corrected. If the problem persists, please
call for service.
Not Assigned The speed dial location selected has
no number assigned to it.
Dial the number manually with the
numeric keypad or assign the number
to a speed dial location.
Polling Error When setting up to poll another fax
machine an incorrect poll code has
been used.
Enter the correct poll code.
The remote fax machine being polled
is not ready to respond to the poll
request.
The remote operator should know in
advance that their machine is being
polled and have the machine loaded
with the originals.
Line Busy The remote fax didn’t answer Try resending the fax.
DISPLAY MEANING SOLUTION
CONDITION SUGGESTED SOLUTION
The LCD does not turn on Check that the product is plugged into an electrical receptacle and
ensure that there is power to the receptacle.
Ensure the ON/OFF switch is in the ON position.
Copies are too light or too dark If the original is light, use the Lighten/Darken button to darken the
image.
If the original is dark, use the Lighten/Darken button to lighten the
image.
Smears, lines, marks, or spots
on copies
If defects are on the original, press the Lighten/Darken button to adjust
the image.
If no defects are on the original, clean the Document Glass and
underside of the document cover.
If the problem still persists, clean the Drum Cartridge. Refer to
“Cleaning the Drum” on page 10-9.
Copy image is skewed Ensure that original is positioned correctly on the Document Glass.
Check that copy paper is loaded correctly.
