BASIC FAX USE

To hang up, replace the handset.
Speed Dialling

Pick up the handset. OR Press Hook.

When you hear a dial tone, press Search/Speed Dial, press #, and then press the two-digit
Speed Dial number. (See Storing Speed Dial Numbers, page 15.)

If you pressed Hook to dial the call, pick up the handset when the other party answers. (The speaker
works only one way; the other party wont be able to hear you unless you pick up the handset.)

To hang up, replace the handset.
Hold

Press Hold to put a call on Hold.

You can put down the handset without disconnecting the call.

Pick up the FAX/MFC handset to release the call from hold. Picking up an extension handset
will not release the call from Hold.
Pause
Press Redial/Pause to insert a 3.5 second pause between numbers. If you are dialing overseas, you
can press Redial/Pause as many times as needed to increase the length of the pause.
On Hook Dialling

Dial the number by using the dial pad or One Touch Dial key (FAX 2850), or Speed Dial and #
then two-digit Speed Dial number.

The number you are dialling, or the name you have stored for One Touch or Speed Dial is
displayed on the LCD.

Press Fax Start.

Pick up the handset when you hear the other end from the monitor speaker.
If you accidentally press Hook before lifting the handset, the call will be disconnected.
If you try to use a One Touch location with no number stored in it, you hear a
warning sound, and screen displays NOT ASSIGNED. The display returns to
normal after 2 seconds.
If you are sending a fax, press Fax Start after pressing the Speed Dial number. If
you picked up the handset, press Fax Start when the receiving fax machine
answers with fax tone.
When you make a call by pressing Fax
Start
after dialling, you can listen to the
other end of the line from the monitor speaker, but they can’t hear you unless you
pick up the handset.
