InWindowsXP,youcanenterstandbymodebyeitheroffollowing
ways:
1. ClickStart‐>TurnOffComputer‐>StandBy.
2. ClickStart‐>ControlPanel‐>PerformanceandMaintenance
‐>PowerOptions‐>Advanced,thensetuphowyouwantthe
computertoenterstandbymode,“closethelidofportable
computer”,“pressthePowerSwitch”,or“pressthecomputer
sleepbutton”.
2.1.5Hibernationmode
Hibernationmodesuspendsthesystemharddisk(STD).Thisuseful
facilitysavesallthedatainmemoryandvideomemorytothehard
disk.Thenexttimeyouturnonthecomputer,theperviousstate
willrestore.IfyouareusingMicrosoftWindowsXPorWindows
2000 operating systems, you only need to enable this facility
throughStart‐>ControlPanel‐>PerformanceandMaintenance‐>
PowerOptions‐>Hibernation.
Underhibernationmode,thesystemdatasavestotheharddiskand
thecomputershutsdowntoreducethepowerconsumption.After
the computerenters hibernationmode, youcanpress thePower
