Factory Default
The Factory Default function is included to give users a quick way of restoring MOXA
EtherDevice Switch’s configuration settings to their factory default values. This function can be
accessed from either the Console utility or Web Browser interface.
NOTE
After activating the Factory Default function, you will need to use the default network settings to
re-establish a web-browser or Telnet connection with your MOXA EtherDevice Switch.
Using Port Trunking
Port Trunking allows devices to communicate by aggregating up to four links in parallel and a
maximum of 4 ports for each link. This means that users could connect one EDS to another EDS
by port trunking to double, triple or quadruple the bandwidth of the connection.
The Concept of Port Trunking
Moxa developed the proprietary port trunking protocol to provide the following benefits:
# Provide a flexible network connection by doubling, tripling, or quadrupling the bandwidth of
a link.
# Providing redundancy—if one link is broken, the other ports share the traffic within this link.
Port trunking can aggregate up to four ports between two EDSs. If all ports on both Switch units
are configured as 100BASE-TX and they are operating in full duplex, the potential bandwidth of
the connection will be 800 Mbps.
