Responding to System Events
12.1 General
When the Parall el Capacity/Redundant system is running in Normal mode, it
continually monitors itself and the incoming utility power. In Battery o r By pass
modes, the Switchboard System Bypass Module (SSBM) may issue alarms to let
you know exactly what event caused the change from Normal mode. System
events on the SSBM can be indicated by horns, lights, messages, or all three.
Select Active from the Events menu on the LCD screen to look at the Active
System Events screen. This screen shows any currently active alarms, notices,
or c ommands.
NOTE: Refer to the applicable Powerware 9315 UPS Operation manual provided
with the UPMs, for UPM system events.
12.2 System Event Horns
The system event horn beeps according to the type of event it is signifying:
• When the UPS detects an alarm that requires your attention, the horn beeps at
½-second intervals.
• When a notice o ccurs, the ho rn beeps at 2-second intervals.
12.3 System Event Lights
The status indicators on the SSBM Control Panel work in conjunction with t he
event horn to let you k now when the Parallel Capacity/Redundant system is
operating in any mode other than Normal. Only the Normal indicator is visible
during normal Parallel Capacity/Redundant system operation. The others light to
indicate alarms or events. W hen an alarm occurs, you should first check these
indicators to see what type of event has taken place. (For descriptions of the
status indicators, refer to the “Reading the Status Indicators” section of Chapter 9.)
