6.4 Powering Off Fabric Cards
Powering off a fabric card is a two-stage process. First you must take the fabric card
to a standby state, then you can power off the fabric card completely.
The deactivate command powers down the fabric card to a standby state. For
example, to deactivate fabric card 14:
Caution When a fabric card is deactivated, its fans are also powered off. The
cooling provided by the fabric card is no longer available to the rest of the chassis.
When you power off a fabric card for repairs or replacement, work quickly so that
the chassis thermal management is not compromised.
