Description of the signals
HostClk/nStrobe (Host driven)
Compatibility Mode: Set active ’low’ to transfer data into printer´s input
latch. Data is valid while nStrobe is low.
ECP Mode: Used in a closed-loop handshake with
PeriphAck to transfer data or address
information from the host to the printer.
Data 1 ... Data 8
Compatibility Mode: Forward channel data.
ECP Mode: Host to the printer or printer to host address or
data.
PeriphClk/nAck (Printer driven)
Compatibility Mode: Pulsed ’low’ by the printer to acknowledge
transfer of a data byte from the host.
ECP Mode: Used in a closed-loop handshake with HostAck
to transfer data from the printer to the host.
Epson ANSI: The signal nAck is used to acknowledge the
data byte from the host. Additional nAck is set to
zero for a short time if the the online status is
restored.
