3-8 CHAPTER 3: WINDOWS NT DRIVER INSTALLATION
13 Edit the PCI adapter parameters.
The settings in the PCI Adapter Setup dialog box
(Figure 3-5) are temporary settings for Client 0 of the
3C971-F adapter. The LEC applications software,
presented later in this chapter, allows the user to
reconfigure Client 0, if need be, and to enable the
additional clients.
a Set an appropriate MTU Size for Client 0.
All nodes that are part of the same logical IP
subnet must use the same maximum transmission
unit (MTU) value. The default size is
1514
and is
recommended for communicating with Ethernet
hosts. If ATM nodes are the only end-nodes on
the network, a setting of 9K will dramatically
improve performance.
b Set the Interrupt Level.
If you want the operating system to pick an
interrupt level automatically (recommended), use
the
Auto Detect
setting. Otherwise, you must set a
specific interrupt level for the 3C971-F adapter.
If the driver fails to recognize the adapter with the
Auto Detect setting, you may need to select an
interrupt level that coincides with your system
BIOS.
14 When the editing of PCI parameters is complete,
select the
OK
button.
The dialog box in Figure 3-6 appears for editing the
signaling options.
