CGMP—The CGMP Management page. By default, CGMP is enabled. This page allows you to
configure the use of CGMP to dynamically discover end−user stations participating in multicast
applications. In short, CGMP directs the packet to its destination rather than broadcasting the packet
throughout the network. Figure 14.11 shows an example of the page.

Configuring the Switch Port Analyzer
You can configure the Switch Port Analyzer (SPAN) using the Web Management Console. When you
implement switches, it is hard to see how the traffic flows in your network, because switches break up your
broadcast and collision domains. This means that where you used to be able to connect a sniffer to a hub port
to view the traffic and get statistics about the entire network segment, you no longer can with switches. SPAN
allows you to connect a management device to a switch port and direct a replication of the traffic flowing in
and out of the switch interfaces from either all the interfaces on the switch or those that you identify to the
interface connected to the management device. Follow these steps to configure SPAN:
To configure the SPAN via the Web Management Console, log on and go to the SPAN Configuration
page (see Figure 14.7).
