MG Write Magnetic stripe writing
error
1 Check the orientation of magnetic stripe cards in
the card hopper as described in
“Load cards” on
page 8
.
2 Press RESET, and then ENTER to initialize the
printer.
EXT Unconnected An external device, such
as the optional laminator,
is not working.
1 Check that the laminator’s power switch is on.
2 Make sure that the cable connecting the laminator
to the printer is plugged in securely.
3 Turn the printer and optional laminator power
switches off and then on again.
4 Call for service if the problem persists.
MG Read Magnetic card reading
error.
1 Check the type and orientation of magnetic cards in
the card hopper as described in “Load cards” on
page 8
.
2 Press RESET, and then ENTER to initialize the
printer.
MG Communicate Magnetic stripe module
communication error.
Turn the printer’s power switch off and then on again.
Press RESET, and then ENTER to initialize the printer.
EXT SW Setting External device switch
setting error.
Turn the printer’s power switch off and then on again.
Press RESET, and then ENTER to initialize the printer.
EXT Jam External retransfer unit jam
error.
1 Press RESET, and then ENTER.

3 Press RESET, and then ENTER to initialize the
printer.
EXT Communicate External unit
communications error.
Turn the printer’s power switch off and then on again.
EXT 2 Communicate The laminator
communication is lost.
1 REQUIRED: Power off the printer and laminator.
2 Make sure that the cable connecting the laminator
to the printer is plugged in securely.
3 Turn the printer’s power switch off and then on
again.
