Configuring Domain Name Systems
Domain Name System (DNS) converts user-defined domain names into IP addresses. Each time a
domain name is assigned the DNS service translates the name into a numeric IP address. For
example,
www.ipexample.com
is translated into 192.87.56.2. DNS servers maintain domain name
databases and their corresponding IP addresses.
The
Domain Naming System (DNS)
page contains fields for enabling and activating specific
DNS servers. To open the
Domain Naming System (DNS)
page, click
System
IP Addressing
Domain Naming System (DNS)
in the tree view.

The
Domain Naming System (DNS)
page contains the following fields:
DNS Status
— Enables or disables translating DNS names into IP addresses.
DNS Server
— Contains a list of DNS servers. DNS servers are added to the
Add DNS Server
page.
DNS Server Currently Active
— The DNS server that is currently active.
Set DNS Server Active
— Activates the selected DNS server.
Remove DNS Server
— When selected, removes the selected DNS server.
