Troubleshooting
The CD/DVD drive
needs to be added as
new hardware.
From the Control Panel window (Start |
Settings | Control Panel), double-click Add New
Hardware. Follow the directions for adding the
drive. If you are not experienced with this
procedure, call Gateway Client Care.
The secondary IDE
device may be disabled.
Restart your computer, then press F1 to enter
the BIOS Setup utility program. From the
Advanced | IDE Configuration
menu, set
the
IDE Controller
to
Both
and the
Secondary IDE Master
to
Auto
.
The CD/DVD drive
cables are not installed
correctly.
Open the system, then check all cables
between the IDE controller and the CD/DVD
drive.
The CD/DVD drive may
be defective.
Replace the CD/DVD drive.
