Connecting serial devices

For complete instructions on how to configure this scenario, see Scenario 3: Connecting a
serial device to a wireless network on page 2-11.
The M111 can also connect to a TCP host via Port 1. For example, in this scenario the host
computer is on the network connected to Port 1.
If you enable the Drop wireless link when port 1 is connected feature, the M111 can
automatically switch between port 1 and the wireless link. See Port control on page 3-26.
Note The M111 only supports one serial over TCP connection.
Serial port connector
The M111 features a standard serial port with DB-9 (female) connector. Pin assignments are
as follows:
To connect a serial device
This procedure describes how to configure all available options that are available when
connecting a serial device to the M111.
1. Connect the serial device to the serial port on the M111 using a standard straight-through
serial cable.
