Resetting the Computer
Occasionally, Windows or the computer may stop responding, so that you cannot turn the computer
off. If this happens, try the following in the order listed. Press the blue sleep button to restart.
If possible, shut down Windows: click Start, Turn Off Computer, Turn Off (Windows XP) or
Start, Shut Down, Shut down (Windows 2000).
Press Ctrl+Alt+Del, then click Shut Down.
Slide and hold the power button for about four seconds, until the display turns off.
Use a straightened paper clip to press the system-off switch on the right side of the notebook.

Note
To boot from a CD, insert a bootable CD (such as the
Recovery CDs
) into the drive, then restart.
Press Esc when the HP logo appears, then select the CD-ROM/DVD drive as the temporary boot
device.
