4.1 Document Feeding
The document can be fed in one of two different ways. Be sure to position the doc-
ument correctly according to the type of document being copied.

Be sure to use the document paper type appropriate for the feed method being
used. If the correct paper type is not used, a paper misfeed or damage to the
document may occur.

Document Feed Method Features
Multi-sheet feeding Using the duplexing document feeder, a multi-page document can be
fed automatically. This feed method can also be used with double-
sided documents, and is perfect for multi-page double-sided
documents. See page 4-5.
Manual feeding The document is placed directly on the original glass, then scanned.
Each page of the document must be positioned manually (i.e., the
previous one must be removed and the next one placed on the original
glass).
This method is best with books and other documents that cannot be fed
through the duplexing document feeder. See page 4-10.
