ISDN Interface Module
The ISDN (integrated services digital network) basic rate interface (BRI) plug-in
module will be used as a primary network link connection to the WAN or for
backup in case of failure. ISDN interface modules may be placed in both Port 2
(MPANL port) and Port 3 (WAN backup port).
There are two types of ISDN interface module, one supporting an ISDN S/T
interface, and the other supporting an ISDN U interface. Both are accessed via
an RJ-45 connector.
The data frame of the ISDN interface consists of three data channels (D, B1, and
B2). The D-channel is used to exchange control information between the user and
the network, as well as transferring data, at a data rate of 16 kbps. Channels B1
and B2 are used to transfer data at the rate of 64 kbps.
