Reinstallation
If you install the sound driver after reinstalling
WindowsXP,theAddHardwareWizard(Modem
Device) window may appear during the sound driver
installation.

system,haschangedthesettingstosearchforboth
sound and modem devices. If you install the modem
device, this message will not appear. If necessary,
install the modem device together.

I cannot hear the modem sound.
A1 Check that the telephone line is properly
connected to the modem.

Check that the modem driver is installed properly.
Click Start > Control Panel > Performance and
Maintenance > System.
Select Hardwaretab> Device Manager > Modems
in the System Properties window, and check if there
isayellowexclamationmarkontheinstalledmodem
icon. If there is, delete the modem device driver and
reinstallthedriver,becausetheyellowexclamation
mark represents a not properly installed driver.
Ifthereisnoyellowexclamationmark,double-click
the installed modem, and click Diagnosticstab>
Query Modem in the Modem Properties window to
diagnose the modem.

intheDiagnosticstabmeansthatthemodemisnot
operating properly.
Diagnose the modem again after restarting the
system or reinstalling the driver.
