DOWNLOAD CHARACTERS
Withthisprinteryoucancreatenewcharacter andsymbols,downloadtheir
dotdata,andhavethemprintedinplaceofselectedcharactexxintheregular
characterset.Charactemthatcanbegeneratedinthiswayrangefromsimple
but useful symbolslike the check mark through complex Chinese or
Japanesecharacters.
Regular characten are permanentlystored in the printer’s ROM, but
charactersyoudesignaredownloadedand storedin RAMfor use.
DESIGNING YOUR OWNDRAFTCHARACTERS
Designingandprintingyourowncharactemhas tworequirements:firstly,
designingtheshapeofthecharacter,calculatingthedatanecessarytomake
the shape,and sendingthat datato the printer,and secondly,sendingthe
commandtoprintthe downloadedcharactersinsteadoftheregularcharac-
ters. There are a numberof designconstraintsfor downloaddraft quality
characters:
● Thematrixor gridon whichyoudesignthe charactersissixboxeswide
by nineboxeshigh.
c Horizontally,dotsmaybecenteredinabox,ormaystraddlealine,making
theactualcharactergrid11dotswideby9 dotshigh.Vertically,dotscan
