Preprogrammed Systems
Preprogrammed Systems
Your scanner is preprogrammed with over 400
channels covering police, fire, and ambulance
operations in the 25 most populated counties in the
US. The following list details the preprogrammed
information.
By default, all of the preprogrammed systems are
unlocked, and your scanner begins to scan them when
you turn it on. To speed up scanning, you can lock out
systems that are beyond your reception area (typically
no more than 25 miles using the supplied antenna).
Follow these steps to lock out systems.
1. Press and hold .
2. While continuing to hold , rotate the scroll
control to select a system you want to lock out.
3. While continuing to hold , press L/O to lock
out the system.
4. Repeat Steps 2, 3, and 4 to lock out additional
systems.
The preprogrammed systems provide a starting point;
you will want to find out more information about your
local radio systems so you can customize the
programming to better suit your listening preferences.
Notes:
• The list is subject to change.
• You might hear transmissions on frequencies
assigned to very distant stations. This will happen
if a local system also uses the same frequency.
Disregard the text tag for these transmissions (e.g.
if you are in California, you aren’t really receiving
Florida transmissions even if the scanner displays
Dade County).
• To free up memory, you can delete systems that
you will not be monitoring. Refer to “Deleting Sys-
tems” on Page 81.
