Windows 98/ME operating system setup
The following networking components must be configured and installed
on a remote computer running Windows 98/ME in order for the MUVPN
client to function properly.
Configuring networking names
From the Windows desktop:
1 Select Start => Settings => Control Panel. Double-click the Network
icon.
The Network window appears.
2 Verify that the Client for Microsoft Networks is installed.
If Client for Microsoft Networks is not installed, you
must
install it. For
instructions, see the following section, “Installing the Client for Microsoft
Networks”.
3 Click the Identification tab.
4 Enter a name for the remote computer.
This
must
be a unique name on the remote network.
5 Enter the domain name you are connecting to.
This should be the same as the Logon to Windows NT domain value.
6 Enter a description for your computer (optional).
7 Click OK. Click OK to close and save changes to the Network control
panel.
Click Cancel if you do not want to save any changes.
8 Reboot the machine.
Installing the Client for Microsoft Networks
From the Networks window:
1 Click the Configuration tab. Click Add.
The Select Network Component Type window appears.
2 Select Client. Click Add.
The Select Network Client window appears.
3 Select Microsoft from the list on the left. Select Client for Microsoft
Networks from the list on the right. Click OK.
4 Select Client for Microsoft Networks.
5 Click Properties.
6 Enable the Log on to Windows NT domain option.
