Removing the Duplexer
Warning: The fuser becomes very hot during operation. To avoid
burns, turn the printer off and allow it to cool for at
least 40 minutes before touching any area with a
high-temperature warning label (fig. 10.19).
1. Make sure the printer displays a PLEASE WAIT or
READY/IDLE message. Then, turn off the printer and
disconnect the power cord from the power supply (fig. 2.6).
2. Remove all media from the multipurpose feeder and output
tray.
3. Remove the paper guide (fig. 10.26).
4. Loosen the screws holding the duplexer cable to the printer;
then disconnect the cable (fig. 10.25).
5. Loosen the screws holding the duplexer to the printer (fig. 10.24).
6. Lift the duplexer off of the printer and set the duplexer on its
back.
7. Align the duplex access panel top tabs in the notches on the
top of the fuser cover; snap the bottom tabs into place (fig.
10.27), and close the fuser cover.
Caution: To prevent burns and paper jams, do not use the
printer with the duplex access panel removed
unless the duplexer is installed.
