Periodic cleaning
Your fax requires little periodic maintenance. This section describes the necessary cleaning procedures for
the fax. Please note the following before cleaning:
Be sure to disconnect the power cord before cleaning the fax. Since documents in memory are erased when
the power is disconnected, print any documents stored in memory before disconnecting the power cord.
(see p. 6-13)
Do not use tissue paper, paper towels, or similar materials for cleaning; they can stick to the components
or generate static charges.

Follow the procedure below to clean the outer casing of the fax.

Cleaning inside the printer cover
To prevent ink spots and paper dust from accumulating inside the fax and affecting print quality, clean the
print area of the fax periodically.
Follow the procedure below to clean inside the fax.
Never use volatile liquids such as thinners, benzene, acetone, or any other chemical cleaner to clean
the interior of the fax; these can damage its components.

Disconnect the power cord from the fax.

Wipe the exterior of the fax with a clean,
soft, lint-free cloth moistened with water
or diluted dishwashing detergent
solution.

When you are finished, reconnect the
power cord.

Open the printer cover using the printer
cover tab. (see p. 2-2)
Do not touch the components or any
metal parts since this may adversely
affect operation of the fax and/or affect
print quality.
