Operating System
The first steps in the setup process are as follows:
• Gathering information
• Configuring your computer
• Restarting your computer
To set up the operating system, follow the instructions on the screen. See also the
operating system manual. It takes approximately 5-10 minutes to complete the
entire setup process.
Do not turn off the computer until completing the operating system
setup. If you turn off the computer, you cannot set it up later.
Properties Dialog Box in Windows
In the instructions in this manual, you will often see the expression “XXX Properties
dialog box.” A dialog box is a window containing text boxes, check boxes, buttons,
etc. with which you can send commands to the operating system or other
application programs. To open the properties dialog boxes, click the Start button,
select Settings - Control Panel and double-click the XXX icon. Among the dialog
boxes you often use are:
• Display
• Modems
• Mouse
• PC Card
• Power Management
• System
