9.1 Accessing a Hard Disk Drive
Caution – To ensure that you and bystanders are not exposed to harm and to
prevent damage to the system, observe the ESD safety precautions. Section 1.1, “ESD
Precautions” on page 1-1.
■ Release the hard disk drive from the domain.
This procedure includes the steps of using the cfgadm command to check the
Ap_Id, and for releasing the hard disk drive. For details, see Section 4.3.1,
“Releasing a FRU from a Domain” on page 4-5.
9.2 Removing a Hard Disk Drive
Note – If a new hard disk drive is to be installed in an empty disk slot, remove the
HDD filler panel first.
1. Push the square button on the front of the hard disk drive (1 in
FIGURE 9-2)to
release the eject/lock lever (2 in
FIGURE 9-2).
2. Pull the eject/lock lever (3 in
FIGURE 9-2) so that the hard disk drive is pulled
straight out from the unit (4 in
FIGURE 9-2).
